1. The first time I saw a video game. It was December 31, 1977, and I was six. My uncle hooked up Pong to my grandma and grandpa's TV. It was on the TV, but I could control what was going on! Mind: Blown.
2. Watching my brother try for a million points on Defender on our Atari 5200. He got really close, but... alas.
3. Finding out about the bug in the DOS version of Civilization that would allow you get a tile improvement in a single turn if you kept clicking on the tile and re-telling it to irrigate/mine/build road. And I still couldn't get far at Emperor level, even with near-instant resource boosting.
4. The one and only time I successfully completed a manned moon mission in Buzz Aldrin's Race Into Space. There has never been a game like it since.
5. Winning a game of Civilization 2 at King level on my own merits and a little bit of luck. I haven't excelled at any Civ game as well as I did with Civ2.
6. One night I sat at my computer and realized that it was 2 AM, and I was watching my Sim wander around stomping bugs, when I should have been sleeping. That's when I realized the addictive nature of playing god.
7. City of Heroes, my first MMO. I created the first Cyard there (a Katana/Regeneration Scrapper inspired by Cal Ripken, though it didn't look anything like him... the name is short for Camden Yards.)
8. The night I dinged 50 for the first time. I was in a mission with my brother, which didn't happen all that often, so that made it cooler. I literally roared when I dinged.
I'm sure I'll come up with more later.
