newest Technology in Computer Hardware | FLASH ANIMATION ...

FLASH ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

The rate at which new computer hardware products are arriving in the store is simply mind-boggling. As the technology advances, the size and the price of the devices come down, while the efficiency and capacity increase. The scenario is same in all cases, whether it is about internal components like processor, motherboard, Ram, graphics card, and hard disk or for peripheral accessories like mouse, keyboard, and monitors. Personal computers became popular only before about three decades back. But already there are huge piles of outdated and aged hardware components and devices. This is a tribute to the great rate of amelioration of newest technologies in computer hardware field. Perhaps, the newest entrant into the archeological account of computer peripherals is Crt monitors. The sleek finding Lcd monitors are spreading like computer virus.

newest Technology in Computer Hardware

Data warehouse devices have attracted needful concentration of the technology developers. New kinds of warehouse devices such as newer versions of flash memory cards, hard disks using newest technology and disks of ever-increasing capacity are the results of advancement in newest technology in compute hardware. The memory size of the random way memory (Ram) cards is soaring to enable the plane functioning of graphics animation software packages and streaming video websites. Also, computer motherboards have undergone great changes over the years. More and more functions are being added to the motherboard. Also, despite the incredible revision in doing and functionalities, the price of these components has nothing else but fallen steadily.

The most vital component of a computer is the microprocessor. It is in this field that a battle of developing newest technologies in computer hardware takes place. The pace of amelioration of microprocessor increases as the competition in the middle of the major processor chip manufacturing companies, Intel and Amd, intensifies. Both the associates are spirited in a neck and neck competition and continuously outdo each other in introducing new technologies.

In the field of computer peripherals, the newest technology in computer hardware is in developing yet an additional one version of wireless mouse and keyboard. The understanding of wireless mouse and keyboard is about a decade old. But the amelioration of these items is still a work in progress. The newest products of wireless mouse and keyboard are said to be very durable and error free.

Some of the developments in the newest technology in computer hardware are gearing up for changing the gift understanding of desktop and laptop computers. With new developments production inherent the convergence of mobile phone technology and computers, a new breed of fully functional palm-top computers are going to be introduced in near future. With touch screen monitors and without the need for a mouse, these gadgets are likely to come to be the next big leap in the constantly leaping technological amelioration field.

(AP) ? Jerry Sandusky's wife smiled as she took the witness stand on Tuesday to defend him against charges he sexually abused boys in their home and on Penn State's campus, and jurors also heard police investigators contradict themselves and psychological experts duel over evaluations of the defendant.

Dottie Sandusky said she remembered most but not all of the eight men who have accused her husband of abusing them as children. She told jurors she did not see him have inappropriate contact with them over the years they visited the couple's home or traveled with them.

In a calm voice during an hour of testimony, she described her 45-year marriage to the former Penn State assistant football coach, but lead prosecutor Joe McGettigan appeared to stump her when he asked why the men might lie in making the accusations.

"I don't know what it would be for," she said, with a slight shake of her head.

A large portion of the day's testimony, which included 11 more character witnesses, consisted of a defense psychologist, Elliott Atkins, who told jurors he believes Jerry Sandusky has a personality disorder that might explain letters addressed to one of his accusers, while prosecutors countered with psychiatrist Dr. John Sebastian O'Brien II, who said that was not the case but that he might suffer from some other problem, possibly psychosexual disorder with a focus on pre-adolescents.

Judge John Cleland told jurors the case remains on track for defense testimony to likely conclude Wednesday morning, closing statements Thursday morning and deliberations to begin that afternoon. It remained unclear whether Sandusky will take the stand in his own defense.

Sandusky is charged with dozens of criminal counts related to 10 boys over a 15-year span. He's accused of engaging in illegal sexual contact ranging from fondling to forced oral and anal sex, and he could spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted.

Dottie Sandusky has stood by her husband, posting his bail, accompanying him to court proceedings and in December issuing a statement that proclaimed his innocence and said that accusers were making up their stories.

Part of the defense strategy is clearly to show that the details of accusers' stories are wrong, but Dottie Sandusky was unable to say with much precision how often certain boys would stay in the couple's State College home. She said one of the boys, called Victim 10 in court records, she did not know at all.

She described Victim 1 as "clingy," Victim 9 as "a charmer" and Victim 4 as "very conniving, and he wanted his way and he didn't listen a whole lot."

Victim 9 testified last week that he was attacked by Jerry Sandusky in the basement of the ex-coach's home and cried out for help when Dottie Sandusky was upstairs. She, however, said the basement was not soundproof and she would have been able to hear shouting if she was upstairs.

Dottie Sandusky, who isn't charged in the case, also said the visiting boys were free to sleep upstairs if they wanted to. The accusers have said Jerry Sandusky directed them to the basement, where they allege he sometimes molested them.

Police handling of an initial interview with Victim 4 may have helped the defense. Now-retired Cpl. Joseph A. Leiter testified police "never told any of them what anyone else had ever told us" before jurors were played a tape of that interview, in which Leiter told Victim 4 that they had been told by others that oral sex and a rape had occurred. Leiter also said that "in some of our interviews ... we did" tell accusers that others had come forward.

"Each of these accusers was very, very seriously injured, and very concerned, and we had told them ? especially prior to going to the grand jury ? that they wouldn't be alone, that there were others," he said.

Also, Leiter told jurors after a recess that he had discussed his testimony with Trooper Scott Rossman over the break, shortly after Rossman told jurors that such a discussion had not occurred.

Victim 4's attorney, Ben Andreozzi, was there the day of that initial interview, and he told jurors a guilty verdict in Sandusky's trial could have an impact on his client if he files a civil lawsuit. He said a decision about a lawsuit has not been made.

The potential for accusers to cash in through a civil lawsuit is part of Sandusky's defense strategy, suggesting to the jury that the accusers have motives to lie.

A witness told jurors that she knew Victim 4 through her brother and that he had a reputation for "dishonesty and embellished stories." The woman, who said her brother was the accuser's best friend, is an Iraq war veteran who suffered a brain injury before she was discharged.

Witness Joshua Frabel, who lived next door to Victim 1, recalled that the young man's mother said she had just heard Sandusky molested her child and that she would end up owning Sandusky's house.

"She had said about, when all this settles out, she'll have a nice big house in the country with a fence, and the dogs can run free," he said.

He added that Victim 1 told him: "When this is over, I'll have a nice new Jeep."

The mother took the witness stand to deny it, and Victim 1 denied it last week during his testimony.

The defense also called former New York Jets linebacker Lance Mehl, who played for the Nittany Lions in the 1970s. When Amendola asked him about Sandusky's reputation, he replied, "We all looked up to him as a class act."

Earlier Tuesday, Amendola told reporters to "stay tuned" to find out if Sandusky would take the stand, comparing the case to a soap opera. Asked which soap opera, Amendola initially said "General Hospital," then "All My Children."

Prosecutors rested their case Monday after presenting 21 witnesses, including eight who said they had been assaulted by Sandusky. The identities of two other people prosecutors say were victims are unknown to investigators. The defense has called 24 witnesses.

Sandusky's arrest led the university trustees to fire football coach Joe Paterno in November, saying his response to a 2001 report from team assistant Mike McQueary about seeing Sandusky in a shower with a boy showed a lack of leadership. Paterno, who said he wished he had done more, died of cancer in January.

Sandusky has acknowledged showering with boys but says he didn't molest them.

Test Drive: Audi A3 e-tron Prototype

A funny thought occurred to me while driving the Audi A3 e-tron experimental electric vehicle: It?s a lot like driving a regular old A3. In fact, if it weren?t for the Audi A3 e-tron badging all over it, you?d never know from the outside that there was anything different about this car.

Frankly, there?s not much on the inside to distinguish it, either. There?s a different instrument cluster that replaces the tachometer with a gauge displaying a percentage of power you are using, but the A3 e-tron?s interior is largely the same as its gasoline-powered counterpart. That, according to Jeff Curry, Audi of America?s director of e-mobility, is the point. Curry tells me that Audi?s clientele don?t want a car that looks and drives like an electric-powered box of wheat germ (I?m paraphrasing here); they want an Audi. That means a car with sporty handling, a luxurious interior (lots of leather; diffused, high-tech lighting; performance-oriented steering wheel and shifter), and a sleek, no-nonsense exterior (except for the decals, of course).

Open the hood, however, and everything?s different. Where there would normally be hoses, belts, fans, a radiator, and, oh yes, an internal combustion engine, there is what can only be described as a miracle of cable management?wires wrapped in bright orange braided sleeving, running from one neatly packaged box of electronics to another, terminating in an 85-kw electric motor that resembles a shiny steel drum. You can?t exactly see it in the, er, engine bay, but at the other end of that circuit of wires is the 660-pound 26.5-kwh battery pack that runs down the center column of the car. That?s where the rear driveshaft for the Quattro system would otherwise go (for now, the A3 e-tron is front-wheel drive). Those batteries make the e-tron heavier than a standard A3, but they also have the advantage of locating the weightiest part of the vehicle down low and dead center, rather than over the front axle as in a gasoline-powered car.

?

That setup should give this car lots of stability during high-speed cornering, though my 1-hour test drive through the traffic of midtown Manhattan (where all the corners are right angles) pretty much made that idea theoretical. I did get the opportunity to try out the e-tron?s signature technology trick: paddle shifters that adjust the amount of regenerative braking done by the electric motor on the fly. Toggle it all the way up and the A3 aggressively decelerates when you lift off the accelerator?it?s sort of like driving a car in low gear.

There are other quirks familiar to anyone who?s driven an electric, or even series hybrid, vehicle. The e-tron is dead quiet at stoplights and lacks the slow creep forward common to automatic transmissions. Even at full throttle, the car emits only a soft, polite whine. The motor?s 85-kw peak output rating equates to only about 114 hp, yet like most electric motors, its torque output is far more impressive. Hit the throttle hard and 199 lb-ft are at your disposal instantly, and the car skips forward with urgency. We?re not talking supercar performance, but nothing to yawn at, either. (The e-tron platform?s performance vanguard is the R18 racing car that won at Le Mans this weekend.)

The inevitable question?is this car headed for production??seems to be yes, though Audi is hinting that we?ll probably see a hybrid gas?electric vehicle if and when that happens. Audi intends to release at least one all-electric e-tron vehicle this year, however?a version of the company?s R8 supercar?though this will be available only in small numbers and to a select clientele.

For now, the A3 e-tron I tested is purely an experiment to see how a fully realized EV with a sporty disposition functions on American roads. If Audi could bring it in at a price within shooting distance of the gasoline-powered A3, I?d say it would make a compelling daily driver . . . provided you?re not driving too far?the A3 e-tron has a maximum range of 87 miles.

Creating a Workers' Compensation Process - Insurance Connecticut

Last updated 1 day 7 hours ago

By developing a cohesive workers? compensation process, you can play an active role in reducing related costs.??

For the unprepared, workers? compensation (WC) issues can be both confusing and costly. Fortunately for employers, there are ways to actively engage WC issues to influence their outcomes.

Through management controls and active involvement in the WC process, your organization can effectively influence related costs. To do so you will have to establish a number of your own processes that guide decision making throughout your organization.

Areas requiring WC management can be divided into three main categories. These categories include facets that may range from the simple to the complex but, as a whole, address vital issues that can negatively influence WC costs in your company.

Workplace Safety Means Fewer Claims

Simply put, reducing?claims reduces costs. Establishing a safety-minded culture throughout every level of your company is essential to keeping workers injury free. However, establishing such a culture isn?t an overnight solution. To be successful, an ongoing commitment to safety must be made. Such a commitment must be supported by management and given the necessary resources to succeed.

Developing comprehensive safety policies for employees builds a firm foundation for your safety culture to grow. Such policies also encourage OSHA compliance, further improving your safety efforts while helping you avoid costly fines.

Mitigate Loss After an Injury

Unfortunately, even with all the right programs in place, it is still possible for accidents to happen. When a workplace incident occurs how you respond can greatly influence the outcome of the claim. Prompt claim reporting is essential to keeping costs down. It is also important to have a designated injury management coordinator, someone who can supervise open claims and work with both employees and medical personnel to facilitate the timely recovery.?

The longer an employee is out of work the more expensive their claim will be. Return to Work programs that allow injured employees to come back to work at a limited capacity during the recovery process, are one of the most effective tools business owners have to reduce the severity of a claim.

Managing Your Mod

Insurers use what is known as an experience modification factor, or mod, to calculate the premiums you pay for workers? compensation coverage. By managing your exposures and promoting safety it is possible to manage your mod and decrease your premium rates.

Like a good safety program, controlling your mod is an ongoing process. To reap the benefits of lower premiums you will have to keep in regular contact with your insurance provider to ensure they have the most accurate data to use in their calculations.

Ramadan 2012 Date Calculated By Prominent Islamic Group

A prominent group of Muslim scholars has announced that Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting, will begin on July 20.

The Fiqh Council of North America, a U.S.-based group affiliated with the Islamic Society of North America, made the announcement on Friday after using scientific calculations to determine July's new moon. The organization regularly makes rulings on Sharia, or Islamic law, such as its annual ruling on the dates of Ramadan.

The Islamic calendar follows a lunar cycle and the dates of Ramadan, the holiest Islamic month when Muslims fast during the daylight hours, change each year. While the Fiqh Council of North America is well-known among North American Muslims, its ruling on the beginning of the Islamic holy month is not binding nor followed by all Muslims.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and Muslims around the world frequently disagree on when it begins. Some Muslims will wait until they can see the new moon with their own eyes, while other Muslims will rely upon moon sightings by friends to know when they should start observing Ramadan. Other Muslims, regardless of what part of the world they live in, will follow the sighting of the new moon in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, which is Islam's holiest city.

During Ramadan, Muslims wake up before dawn for breakfast and abstain from food, water and sex during the day before breaking their fasts with group dinners at night. The days are punctuated by prayers, and Muslims try to read the Quran, their holy book, at least once in its entirety before the month's end. Mosques will also often organize community service activities.

In its announcement, the Islamic council also predicted a date for the end of Ramadan, which is marked by a festive holiday called Eid al-Fitr. That date, August 19, corresponds with the new moon and the Islamic month of Shawwal.

The organization is promoting a website, www.moonsighting.com, to help Muslims track when the new moon begins.

Van Wanggaard Requests Recount In Wisconsin State Senate Recall Race

MILWAUKEE ? Wisconsin state Sen. Van Wanggaard asked elections officials Friday for a recount in his recall race, the outcome of which will decide the majority party in the state Senate.

An official canvass this week showed the Racine Republican trailing his Democratic challenger by 834 votes, or 1.2 percent.

Democrats had called on Wanggaard to concede, saying a recount would only delay their inevitable and waste taxpayer money. But Wanggaard's campaign said it was concerned about possible reports of voting irregularities, and said it wanted to ensure the outcome was accurate.

Given how many votes were cast in the election and the margin separating the candidates, the recount will cost Wanggaard $5 for each of the 137 wards, or $685. Taxpayers will be on the hook for any remainder of the recount bill.

The state Senate currently has 16 Democrats and 16 Republicans. The winner of Wanggaard's race will give his party majority control.

If the recount reverses the outcome, the loss by Democrat John Lehman would be bitter end to the party's already disappointing recall effort. Democrats came up empty in the other five recall races, including a failed attempt to recall Republican Gov. Scott Walker and his second-in-command, Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch.

While a Lehman win would help Democrats save face, the outcome of the race could be largely symbolic. The Legislature isn't expected to convene again until January, and the November elections could cause the balance of political power to shift once again.

Lehman, a former high school history teacher, held the 21st District Senate seat until Wanggaard defeated him in 2010.

The recalls were prompted by anger over a law pushed by Walker and passed by the Republican-led Legislature that stripped most public workers of nearly all their collective bargaining rights.

Emeralds seek the "De Beers" treatment

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A year ago, Heraldo Casas found a 32-carat emerald on the outskirts of a mine near Bogota that he sold for $170,000 to a vendor.

It was enough money for the poor miner to buy his family a house in the Colombian capital. And Casas says his lucky find got him hooked on working for virtually nothing, scouring the countryside for more of the green, precious stones.

In Colombia, the world's largest producer of raw emeralds, the story told by Casas is no anomaly. Many of the country's poor work without a salary for several local emerald mining concerns, hoping to pocket a few stones along the way and make their own small fortunes.

It's no easy way to earn a living. But for these poor Colombians, there's hope that better days may be on the horizon.

Some investment experts see growing demand for the stones in places such as Asia and the Middle East, where for religious and astrological reasons emeralds often have more appeal than diamonds or other precious gems.

Colombia, which has the largest emerald deposits in the world, is particularly well-positioned to benefit from this increased demand. Several countries in Africa also have large emerald deposits.

"I would look at emeralds as a way of playing the huge demand for luxury goods from China and the Middle East," said Caspar Trenthard, investment director for UK smaller companies at Standard Life Investment.

Standard Life is a shareholder in Gemfields PLC , a small company trying to position itself as the leader in emerald mining. Gemfields wants to move the business beyond its local-miner image and onto a bigger stage.

"Color-stone mining around the world is done on a very small scale, almost mom and pop," said Ian Harebottle, chief executive of Gemfields, referring to a model that has hampered Colombia from better exploiting the abundance of its natural resource.

NOT EASY BEING GREEN

Harebottle said his company, which is publicly traded on the London Stock Exchange's Alternative Investment Market, is trying to change that model. But one problem Gemfields faces is the lack of a uniform "grading system" for emeralds like there is for diamonds.

Clarity, brightness and color are established characteristics of diamonds. But the standards for emeralds are still in flux and not universally agreed upon, something that can affect pricing and profitability.

Gemfields' goal is to do what privately owned De Beers did for diamonds by creating a stable market for emeralds and enhancing the gem's image as more than an exotic colored stone.

"We are very fortunate because we can look at De Beers' history and say: let's do what they did well, better, and let's avoid what they did wrong," Harebottle told Reuters in a telephone interview from the company's Kagem emerald mine in Zambia.

Gemfields begins with an advantage over De Beers in that emeralds do not have the stigma of "blood diamonds", or such gems mined in a war zone and sold to finance insurgency.

The company says it carefully promotes a mission to mine and market emeralds in an ethical, legal and environmentally friendly way to attract customers who want to know that its miners are well treated and do not work illegally.

Gemfields produces 20 percent of all the emeralds in the world, most of that coming from its mine in Zambia. It is the largest player in emerald mining and each month extracts 2 million to 3 million carats of the gemstones.

Carat prices for small, high-quality emeralds have risen 1,000 percent in the past three years to around $40 for a stone that is uncut and in the rough, according to industry analysts.

In the past three years, Gemfields' stock price has soared from 3 pence a share to 38 pence a share on the AIM.

But its small market capitalization of $208.5 million has kept some investors away. Other money managers are worried that a single shareholder, a division of South African-based private equity firm Pallinghurst Group , owns 63 percent of Gemfields.

RISK FACTORS

Political risk is also a factor, as a change in Zambian government policy could negatively affect the company's operations. It's one reason Gemfields is looking at Colombia as a place to open a second mine, said a person familiar with the company but unauthorized to speak for it.

Ironically, after years of drug violence and political corruption, Colombia is now seen as a more hospitable environment for some mining operations.

In addition, the company's long-term prospects come down to supply and demand. Like any other gemstone producer, Gemfields' business remains sensitive to consumer preferences and disposable income.

"We are selling a luxury good. It is not food, it is not fuel, so there is a dependence on people's ability to buy something of luxury," Harebottle said.

Yet some analysts view this alternative market as a solid diversification tool, and a good store of value, in an adventurous investor's portfolio given its upward trajectory in an otherwise sputtering global economy.

"As liquidity in the company improves, Gemfields is starting to get a broader audience of investors who are having a look at it because they can actually make some good money," said Alexander Mees, equity analyst at JP Morgan Cazenove.

That said, it is unlikely that diamonds will be overtaken as the top-selling precious stone anytime soon. But in a world where high-yield investments are few and far between, some believe colored gemstones such as emeralds are making a mark.

"People are looking for a safe haven to put their dollars, which are worth less every day, into something that has strong intrinsic value or something that will appreciate," said Jeffrey Roseman, president of David Harvey Jewelers Inc, based in Darien, Connecticut.

"There is no question people are seeking fine gemstones."

Kirsten Gillibrand Fires Back At Jeff Sessions' Food Stamp Argument

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y) fired back at a Republican colleague's attack on her effort to stop cuts to food stamps, dismissing Sen. Jeff Sessions' (R-Ala.) suggestion that her defense of the program was immoral.

During an interview with MSNBC's Al Sharpton on Thursday evening, Gillibrand evoked the Bible while discussing what she sees as a "fascinating" debate.

"In Matthew 25, the first question Christ asks on Judgement Day is, 'Did you feed the poor?'" Gillibrand said, referring to the first book of the New Testament. "It's unacceptable that we have Republican advocates who are saying it's immoral to support food stamps."

Gillibrand was referencing Sessions' Wednesday speech on the Senate floor, during which he attacked the Democratic senator for her efforts to restore $4.5 billion in aid to programs that feed the hungry that the Senate's proposed farm bill would cut.

"Is our national goal to place as many people on welfare, food stamp support, as we can possibly put on that program?" Sessions said of Gillibrand's amendment. "Is that our goal? Is that a moral vision for the United States of America, just to see how many people we can place in a situation where they're dependent on the federal government for their food? I just ask that. I think we should wrestle with that question."

Gillibrand, who pointed out on Thursday that her amendment would not add to food stamps program, expressed similar surprise at Sessions' line of attack immediately following his floor speech. HuffPost's Mike McAuliff reported:

In a statement to The Huffington Post, Gillibrand said she was stunned that a colleague would suggest the moral course is to cut food aid at a time when the Congressional Budget Office estimates need will continue to grow through 2014 because of the lingering effects of the recession -- especially when the spending also boosts the economy.

"It is shocking as a mother and a lawmaker when clear facts about the return on investment is ignored, and cutting billions in food assistance for hungry kids is framed as being on the right side of a clear moral issue," Gillibrand said.

The senator made a similar point on Thursday, highlighting the needs of those who would be most impacted by the cuts.

"This is money that's literally going to feed children," Gillibrand said. "I don't know if he's ever heard a young child say 'Mommy, I'm still hungry,' but any mother who hears those words and is not able to give their child food is unacceptable. Unacceptable in a country as rich as ours to not be able to provide those families with the food they need."

Samsung Galaxy Note with T-Mobile-ready 3G swings by the FCC

Samsung Galaxy Note with TMobileready 3G swings by the FCC

A T-Mobile-capable version of the Samsung Galaxy Note has been floating around in pictures, but official evidence has been hard to come by. Imagine our surprise when it saunters by the FCC with few disguises: going under a hinted-at SGH-T879 codename, the giant smartphone has passed through the agency with the needed 1,700MHz HSPA band for T-Mobile 3G while also supporting 850MHz and 1,900MHz 3G in the same breath. The wireless support leaves the possibility that the unit we're seeing here is for 1,700MHz Canadian carriers like Mobilicity or Wind Mobile, but earlier photos of T-Mobile branding allude to the American provider having at least toyed with the idea of a Galaxy Note on its network. Fans of supersized phones have reason to cheer, then, although we have doubts revolving mostly around the T879's absence on a leaked roadmap for mid-2012 and the lateness of the arrival. It might be hard for T-Mobile to steer customers to a 2011-era Samsung phone when the Galaxy S III is on the doorstep.

Read - Chocolate Diet

I heard that 23 squares of chocolate a week is healthy and dark chocolate is the best apparently. But I also heard someone say in a article online that their friend had never been overweight because she ate chocolate everyday. Nothing more than half a chocolate bar or a handful of MMs. Please answer thank you x.

Basic things about How much of chocolate is healthy

Chocolate
Chocolate i / ? t? ? k ? l ? t / is a raw or processed food produced from the seed of the tropical Theobroma cacao tree. Cacao has been cultivated for at least.

Hot chocolate
Hot chocolate (also known as hot cocoa) is a heated beverage typically consisting of shaved chocolate, melted chocolate or cocoa powder, heated milk or water, and sugar.

Types of chocolate
It is sold in chocolate-growing countries, and to a much lesser extent in other countries, often promoted as healthy. Flavors such as mint, vanilla, coffee, orange, or.

Dog health
Unvaccinated healthy dogs need to be confined for ten. Prevention is much the better course, via heartworm. A chocolate bar can be sufficient to make a small dog.

Chocolate milk
Because chocolate milk can contain twice as much sugar as plain low-fat milk from added sugars, some. it is unclear to what extent chocolate consumption affects healthy.

Your friends are misinformed. Cocoa is healthy and contains high amounts of antioxidants. The problem is that most chocolate bars contain high amounts of sugar and very low percentage of cocoa. To really get the benefits of cocoa you need to eat the ones that contain at least 50 real cocoa and with sugar content of less than 15g per serving. Most dark chocolate especially those made by Lindt have low sugar but unfortunately many American and UK chocolate makers label theirs dark chocolate for marketing purposes and not because it really is dark chocolate unlike elsewhere in Europe where the term dark chocolate actually means chocolate made without milk fat and is lower in sugar content.

Be My Friend Truth About Chocolate Health Food Junk or Drug Nutrition by Natalie You constantly see news articles promoting health benefits of chocolate such as antioxidant content. This video discusses both the health benefits and risks. I really need help fast. PLEASEOk well im doing a persuasive essay and i have to have both sides to the story to have refutation in the essay and i need to know what are the negative effects of chocolate i been researching like crazy and i still cant find anything all i found was the health benefits about choclate but not anything against it. Its has to be in like a article from for the first choice and if anything else let me know i really need this Thank you. THANKS FOR THE ANSWERS EVERY ONE WHO ANSWERED just made it easier for me to finish my essay in time thank you lots And yes chocolate is good kind of a chocoholic here.

A review of scientific studies has found that chocolate long used as an emotional pickmeup more often prolongs a bad mood rather than helps it. Here is an excellent site on the negative effects of chocolateJune Russells Health FactsChocolate Healthy Read these Reports and Decide.

I want to start off my junior year and high school much better than my past two years. Ive set goals for myself two being to eat healthier and get in shape for basketball. Im not trying to loose weight I dont mean to sound conceited or come across as rude but loosing weight is the last thing I need to do. I eat A LOT most of which is junk food and fast food. Im trying to eat healthier and be more athletic. I just dont know where to start. Any advice or anything.

Thats good that you want to eat healthier Go for natural foods ideally organic if you can. Try to avoid things like junk food or fast food soda or diet soda diet drinks artificial colorsflavors or sweeteners white flour overly processed foods. You could also try some healthier alternatives to junk foods or fast foods. Examples Instead of fast food french fries try making your own baked fries or baked sweet potato fries with olive oil a sprinkle of salt etc. Or making homemade potato chips by thinly slicing potato or sweet potato glazing with olive oil adding a little salt and baking.

Replace a soda with a glass of cold sparkling water with lemon juice or 100 organic fruit juice mixed in. Grilled cheese but on a whole grain bread with cheese that isnt processed cheese. A natural cheese. Replace candy with things like frozen grapes or frozen banana slices dried fruit like mango apricots apple cherries blueberries cranberries raisins etc. Enjoy whole grain pasta instead of white pasta in pasta dishes or pasta salads. Add veggies to. Instead of junky potato chips try an all natural potato chip brand like Kettle or go for natural sweet potato chips popcorn pita chips great with hummus pop chips etc.

Vegetables Fruit Berries Beans chickpeas black beans kidney beans mixed beans etc. Full of fiber and protein Veggie burgers Amys makes great veggie burgers Whole grain breads multigrain bread ezekiel bread rye bread whole wheat pitas whole grain tortillas or bagels etc. Whole grain pasta or brown rice pasta brownwild rice quinoa buckwheat barley millet etc. Sweet potatoes or potatoes Hummus Oatmeal Healthy cereals Kashi Natures Path Organic in fiber and not too high in sugar Nuts seeds almond butter peanut butter nut butter without added sugar Nondairy milks like soy almond rice or coconut milk Ground flax seed to add into a smoothie top yogurt etc.

It seems like that networking site is slowly picking up speed. Im looking for personal opinions here. Do you think that it will eventually surpass facebook in the number of users it has.

Excellent question actually two entirely different questions. Equally interesting answers thus far People dont care about every move you make Twitter is for old peopleI would agree with both of these statements. However just because a person has a computer doesnt mean they know how to use it. Same would apply for a Twitter account. When people use Twitter to post stupid stuff it is in my opinion a misuse of the tool. Here are more comments you have received. Twitter is not very useful. Twitter is for businesses.

While FaceBook and MySpace have all sorts of gadgets and games that the user can play with Twitter has successfully narrowed theirselves down to being little more than a communication tool. However I see this as a good point rather than a bad one when it comes to telling people about the Body By Chocolates healthy chocolate business opportunity. Your audience has already said they need more than a chat tool. Yet chatting can be a huge privelage to people with a message. I guess the bottom line is this. If your goal of social networking is to goof off and have fun then you might find your space on MySpace and your face on FaceBook.

So will Twitter replace MySpace FaceBook NoHowever it will segment the groups out better so that you are talking with the people that you want to be talking to. I would answer yes to the idea of Twitter overtaking the volumes of FaceBook MySpace Iits just a matter of time. The Chocolate ManTwitter BodyByChocolate.

Virgin male moths think they're hot when they're not

ScienceDaily (June 7, 2012) ? Talk about throwing yourself into a relationship too soon. A University of Utah study found that when a virgin male moth gets a whiff of female sex attractant, he's quicker to start shivering to warm up his flight muscles, and then takes off prematurely when he's still too cool for powerful flight. So his headlong rush to reach the female first may cost him the race.

The study illustrates the tradeoff between being quick to start flying after a female versus adequately warming up the flight muscles before starting the chase. Until the next study, it remains a mystery which moths actually reach the females: the too-cool, quick-takeoff males or the males who wait until they're hot enough to take a shot. The latter may end up flying faster and more efficiently and win the race, despite a slow takeoff.

"What happens before flight has not been well studied," says Jos? Crespo, a University of Utah doctoral student in biology and first author of the new study, published online June 7 in the Journal of Experimental Biology. "To me, the story is you have a behavior -- pre-flight warmup -- that is switched on by smell."

Senior author Neil Vickers, professor and chairman of biology at the University of Utah, says: "In many insects, moths in particular, all of their adult lives are affected by odor -- all the activities they engage in that you and I see at night at the porch light are things typically affected by odor."

Moths forage for nectars using flower odors. Males follow female sex attractants or pheromones to find the females. Then they have what Vickers calls "an odor dialogue" and mate. The females use odor to lay their eggs on the right plants.

"Finding out how odors switch on behavior is critical to the whole picture," Vickers says. "Furthermore, because insects have this amazing ability to fly, which not many animals have, finding out how flight is turned on by odor is an issue relevant to many insects. ? There is a whole constellation of behaviors driven by odor, and this is true of all manner of insects" and even other animals and people.

Vickers and Crespo conducted the study with University of Utah biology Professor Franz Goller. The research was funded by the National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Health.

Watching Chilled Moths Heat Up

The study involved a moth named Helicoverpa zea, commonly known as the corn ear worm. It belongs to the largest family of moths and butterflies -- noctuids -- which have more than 35,000 species worldwide, including the medium-sized moths many of us see in or near our homes.

"It's a significant agricultural pest which attacks many different crops -- corn, soy, tomato, strawberries," Vickers says. Researchers use them because they are good models to show how odors are processed in the brain.

Virgin males were used in the study because it is standard protocol to use animals that haven't previously mated or been exposed to pheromones.

To start the experiments, all the moths were chilled down to 46 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit, cool enough so they stay inactive, and so handling them before the experiments doesn't prompt them to start warming up immediately.

The first experiments were conducted using a small, open roofed, cardboard wind tunnel about 11 inches long, 5.5 inches wide and 5.5 inches tall. A 1.2-inch tall, 1.2-inch diameter cylindrical wire cage, with no top, was placed upright inside one end of the wind tunnel, with an inactive moth at the bottom.

A fan blew a gentle, 1 mph breeze toward the moth, and one of six odors was released near the upwind end of the tube. One was the moth's normal pheromone blend, one was the blend's primary component, and the other four were odors (or in one case, no odor) that scientists believed wouldn't attract the moths (and didn't).

An infrared video camera -- which measures temperatures -- recorded the moths as they began their shivering warm-up and finally took off. The moths are seen in infrared turning from cooler purple-blue to warmer orange and even warmer red and yellow.

By analyzing the video after each of dozens of experiments, Crespo measured how long it took inactive moths to start shivering after smelling the odor, and how long they spent shivering until takeoff. The infrared video, one frame before takeoff, showed the temperature of the moth's thorax at takeoff (the wings and all related muscles are in the insect's thorax, the body section between the head and abdomen). Crespo also calculated the rate at which the moths warmed up.

Moths that did not smell pheromone flew in random directions when they finally warmed up. Moths that smelled the pheromone blend (and often the primary component alone) started shivering faster, took off sooner (less time shivering), did so at a lower temperature than other moths, and flew toward the odor.

Quicker Takeoff, Less Powerful Flight

Until now, researchers thought the moths simply warmed up as fast as they can. "These guys don't all heat up at the same rate," Vickers says. "The guys exposed to the pheromone odor, go 'Wow!' and they warm up faster and take off more quickly. And that compromises the flight power they can produce."

Crespo conducted a second set of experiments that showed cooler temperatures mean less vertical flight power or force.

In these experiments, wax was used to gently attach (not stick) an entomological pin to a moth's thorax. The other end of the pin was attached to a force sensor, which in turn was wired to various electronics to read the results. A small Styrofoam ball was placed under the moth, which reflexively grabbed onto it with its legs. When Crespo gently pulled away the ball, the moth reflexively tried to fly upward, and the force of that effort was recorded. White and black lights -- to which moths are attracted -- were above the apparatus to induce the moths to fly with maximum force.

The test was repeated in small temperature increments, showing how warm a moth thorax must be for maximum flight power -- about 90 degrees Fahrenheit -- and that those in the study took off too cool at about 82 degrees Fahrenheit.

Crespo says moths "are well-known for 'scramble competition.' When the female is advertising the pheromone in a field, that pheromone is probably going to be detected by several males, and they're going to try to compete and get to the female first. You can see how it might be advantageous to take off sooner and try to get to the female first."

"However," he adds, "if you take off with a lower temperature, we show you have less maximum power in flight, so we think there is a compromise between heating up faster to a lower temperature to arrive at that female first, or waiting a little longer to heat up to a higher temperature and make sure you're going to make it to the female."

"This is about a decision to get up and go: 'This is the right smell. Let's do it,'" Vickers says. "There are neurons that detect the odor, and they feed that information into the brain, and the brain says, 'This is the right odor, this is a female,' and then processes occur that we don't know much about. But the brain sends instructions to the flight muscles to start warming up. The animal responds to this odor by warming itself at a faster rate than if it's exposed to a non-female odor. At some level, we've moved a little step closer to understanding that black box that's evaluating these inputs and internal conditions and deciding to move."

Vickers adds: "Insect flight muscles are among the most metabolically costly in the animal kingdom. In order to fly, you have to use a lot of oxygen and generate the power. The decision to take flight after a female odor is not one that would be taken lightly by the moth because it's expensive."

"It's costly to fly, to jump into a relationship," he says.

WWII veterans remember D-Day at memorial

WASHINGTON (AP) ? With the World War II Memorial as a backdrop, veterans Josephine and Murray Bussard shared a kiss from their wheelchairs as they commemorated the 68th anniversary of D-Day, and celebrated almost as many years of marriage.

The octogenarians from Springfield, Mo., were among more than 200 veterans flown in Wednesday for a visit to the memorial.

Some of the veterans entered the memorial standing tall. Others, like the Bussards, were pushed in wheelchairs or leaned on canes, displaying a frailty that contrasted with the strength in the stories they told as they paid homage to the June 6, 1944, invasion of France by Allied troops.

Josephine Bussard, 89, proudly announced that Friday marks the 67th anniversary of their wedding, an event that took place, she said, "thanks to me."

At his wife's urging ? "Bus ... I like the way you tell it," she said ? Murray Bussard, 88, recounted the story of their union while other veterans walked and wheeled around the stone ramps of the monument.

In January 1945, Murray was a machine gunner in the 3rd Marine Division. Josephine was a self-proclaimed "Navy girl" at the Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES) Yeoman School.

Some nights, Josephine would go to the Marine barracks to play pool.

When Murray saw Josephine waiting for a Greyhound bus one day, he invited her to join him on the Marine bus. With little room to spare onboard, Josephine, then 22, traveled "65 miles sitting on my lap," Murray said, laughing.

Murray had served earlier in the Bougainville campaign but returned to the states after he contracted malaria.

"Thank God that they dropped the atomic bomb," he said, suddenly straight-faced, "because I was supposed to go overseas again."

The couple married on June 8, 1945. They've been together ever since, they said.

"He's just as nice as me," Josephine joked, glancing over at the man in the "Semper Fi" cap.

While it was a day of happy nostalgia for the Bussards, other veterans soberly bore the sharp pain of loss, remembering fallen comrades.

Robert Clark, who flew in from Detroit, spoke proudly about his time as a machine gunner in the 86th Infantry Division Blackhawks until asked why he came to see the memorial.

Choked up, he turned to his son Thomas, who suggested, "The ones who didn't make it?"

Clark nodded.

The elder Clark's smile returned when he entered the memorial to cheers from 40 fifth-graders from Ashland Elementary School in Manassas, Va., who were chosen for a field trip to the memorial based on essays they wrote about World War II.

Bill Cheolas, who also came from Detroit, had visited the memorial previously at a reunion with his division. At least two of the men with him that day have since passed away.

"So many of us are dying that we hardly have any crowd at all," Cheolas said.

At 18, Cheolas trained as a pilot in Texas before joining the 86th Troop Carrier, airborne division, and dropping paratroopers behind enemy lines in Germany. Despite the memories of those lost, Cheolas said seeing the memorial brought him a sense of peace.

"I can't say I'm having closure," Cheolas said. "I just felt that I needed to come back once more."

The veterans traveled to Washington aboard six flights organized by the private Honor Flight Network. The organization has flown more than 81,000 veterans to the nation's capital since 2005 to visit the memorials for their respective wars, according to its website.

Veterans came from Missouri, Michigan, West Virginia, Arizona, Oklahoma and Kentucky. Ford Motor Co. funded two of the six participating state groups.
