RTL Joins HBO?s ?Transporter? Series as Co-Producer

CANNES ? RTL Television has boarded Luc Besson?s Transporter series, signing on a co-producer of the small screen adaptation of the action franchise, joining co-producers HBO, France?s M6 and HBO Canada.

Chris Vance of Prison Break stars in the Transporter series as the ex-elite commando Frank Martin who acts as a transporter, delivering mysterious packages against all odds for a series of shady and dangerous clients.

Klaus Zimmermann's Atlantique Productions will deliver Transporter to the networks with Besson acting as an executive producer. The producing channels have put in a 12x45 minute order for the first series of Transporter, which is budgeted at $43 million (?30 million).?

Showrunner is Alexander M. Rumelin (Vulkan). Andy Mikita (Stargate) will direct.? 96 Hours stunt coordinator Michel Julienne will handle car stunts on the show with Cyril Raffaeli (The Incredible Hulk) on board as fight choreographer. Transporter is set to begin shooting in Europe on June 8 before moving to Toronto from July to November.

RTL plans to bow the Transporter series in Germany next year.
