Weather forces Obama to switch from chopper (AP)

WASHINGTON ? The White House says bad weather forced President Barack Obama to switch from his presidential helicopter, Marine One, en route to Camp David and board a motorcade to get to the presidential retreat in Maryland.

It happened Friday afternoon after Obama had already taken off from the South Lawn of the White House aboard Marine One, accompanied by daughter Sasha. The sky was overcast.

White House officials say a last-minute bad weather call was made. So instead of going directly to Camp David about 70 miles northwest of Washington, Marine One diverted to an alternate landing area and the president motorcaded the rest of the way.
